This new Solo competition at AnimeCon is open to all Benelux Solo cosplayers. This event is the continuation of Euro Cosplay combined with the C2E2 championships that used to be in Chicago, USA. The finals will be held in London at MCM Comic Con in October.
Due to there being no qualifiers available in Belgium and Luxembourg, AnimeCon opens it’s arms to our neighbours and invite them wholeheartedly to join in the competition.

Sign-ups for this competition are closed for this year.

When signing up for this competition, you will in any case need to provide us with:
- Small storyboard about your act in 5-10 lines of text (If you just pose, state that you will do just that.)
- Ticket reference number
- Proof of residency in The Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg (Passport)
Without these, your entry will not be valid.
Materials like scripts, music and such are due on a later date and will not be needed for the initial sign-up.

Restrictions

Aside from the usual rules, the following applies:
Visitors of this specific event are allowed to take pictures of the event. All entrants need to agree to this if they want to compete in this event. A special entry for this purpose has been added to the Cosplay Competition registration form. However, it is NOT allowed, to use FLASH photography! Remember other people's personal (as well as third parties) rights will always apply, but what you do with YOUR pictures/recordings is YOUR OWN responsibility!

Rules

- For cosplay weapons guidelines read the house rules. Dutch weapons law will always apply!
- You need to be 18 years or older when competing at AnimeCon.
- You need to be a permanent resident and have residency status in The Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg *
- You need to make your costume by yourself and are allowed a stage ninja, completely in black to assist you with your props. This stage ninja is not allowed to do any acting or interact with the cosplayer **

Your costume and act must represent an existing or recognizable character or element from the pop culture realm, including comic books, movies and television, video games, anime, manga, theatre or fantasy. Other categories are not eligible.
Your act must be between one and two minutes and may not exceed this length.
Judging will be done with 85% going to costume creation, accuracy and difficulty level and 15% towards stage performance (Please do note that with the usual excellent costume creation, those 15% will be very important and usually the decider)
You may not use anything that litters the stage or causes a naked flame. Use of lasers and dry ice is also not allowed.
Your stage props can not be higher than 2m.
Once entered, you will get a script form to fill in the details of your act. This will have to be handed in on a date yet to be determined, but will be 4 weeks before the convention, 23:59h at the latest

With your script, you will also have to provide:
- Work in Progress pictures from all parts of the costume and relevant props,
- Reference pictures,
- Any audio/video you want to use during the skit.

Other than for the rest of our Solo events, you can not use copyrighted music in the finals nor can you make use of video in your act at the MCM Comic Con. We will allow the use of both at AnimeCon but will not consider the video for judging, so please do not use a video you interact with on stage during AnimeCon as we can not take this in consideration for your act while judging.

Should you win, your prize will be: A ticket for one from either Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Brussels train station or airport to London and back. Attending and competing in the finals at MCM Comic Con London. Accommodation for a maximum of two persons for three nights (Thursday to Sunday). €60 to cover ground transport.

*If your passport does not grant you visa-less access to the UK, you are responsible to finance and acquire the necessary visa in time. You need a valid passport to enter the UK.
** AnimeCon will not cover flights and costs of your stage Ninja as we see this as a solo competition, we will only cover the costs of the cosplayer and not the assistant.
