Cosplay Competitions

AnimeCon is one of the beating hearts of cosplay in the Netherlands. A place where both novice and experienced cosplayers can live their hobby to the fullest. You will find cosplay everywhere throughout the convention: many of the visitors wear their wonderful costumes, photographers enjoy taking pictures and we host many events about cosplay.

Everybody who is interested can cosplay at AnimeCon. To give everybody the possibility to enjoy cosplay to the fullest, we provide multiple cosplay activities during our festival. From beginning cosplayers to experts, we offer activities for all.

Cosplay Competitions at AnimeCon

Here at AnimeCon we host multiple cosplay competitions, where the best cosplayers compete on stage and show their costumes in the most wonderful acts. This can be in solo acts, or in groups. AnimeCon prides itself that it has competitions for any level. For those who want to try out filling the stage for the first time, to those who want to represent the Netherlands in one of the international competitions abroad, where our cosplayers will compete with the some of the best cosplayers in the world.

We worked with the following organisations and/or events in the past: GICOF, WCS, ToC and the walkway.

Cosplay Competition Judges

Glin Design

Glin is a full-time cosplayer and cosmaker with a passion for sewing, crafting, and performing. From her atelier, she specializes in creating beautiful ball gowns and has crafted over 250 costumes to date. She has represented her country in numerous international competitions, earning the title of Cosplay World Master 2023 and the Holiday Matsuri Award at WCS 2025.

Panterona

Panterona is an award-winning cosplayer, fashion and costume designer, artist, educator, and convention organiser from Trinidad and Tobago. With over 20 years of experience, she creates costumes inspired by anime, games, comics and more. She has won multiple international awards such as Best ModCreation at BlizzCon (2021), and the Grand Prize at the Gamers Without Borders International Cosplay Competition (2021).

Cosplay Photography

Speaking of photography, AnimeCon has its own team of photographers roaming the halls to capture memorable moments throughout the event. At the same time, we warmly welcome cosplay photographers to join us and bring their creativity to the convention.

Please keep in mind that we have house rules regarding photography. Our goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment for both cosplayers and photographers. Always remember everyone has their own wishes and boundaries. Cosplay is not consent.

Two helpful tips for both cosplayers and photographers:

- Bring (business) cards to exchange contact details easily.

- Always ask for permission before taking a photo, even if it’s just a quick snapshot.

- Respect and communication lead to the best results, and the best photos.

But most of all, when you come to AnimeCon, you will meet many people who also love cosplay. Enjoy the community and meet old and new friends.

Pixel Ronin Studio
Pixel Ronin Studio is back at AnimeCon 2026 with their photo studio! They provide a safe, fun and free professional photography experience for all who attend! Do you want a cool photo of your costume or convention look? Then swing by the studio at the convention! You will receive the photo immediately in digital format and it’s completely free!

AnimeCon offers several themed photo corners where you can take unique and memorable pictures. Many of these beautiful sets are designed and created by our decoration team, who work hard every year to bring new ideas to life so you can capture your moments in style and with extra flair.
