Whisky and Woodtype
You often see aged or finished on or in a certain type of wooden cask on whisky bottles. This masterclass will showcase the same destilate from Yasato distillery (Hinomaru whisky) aged in barrels that previously contained 3 different types of Sherry and one barrel made entirely of Cherry (Sakura) wood.
We will be tasting 4 different whiskies. This will be a tasting for more advanced whisky drinkers as all all four whiskies will be at cask strength (around 60% ABV). You will be encouraged to add a fair amount of water to taste more of the subtleties of the spirit.
This tasting is open to only 30 people. Some whisky experience is expected. Though this is a cheaper event than the regular whisky tasting, you will only try 4 different whiskies instead of 7.

Kiuchi, the company behind Yasato Distillery, is mostly known for its Hatochino Nest Beer, the cans and bottles with the small owl on them. They set up Yasato distillery because of their earlier experience with brewing beer.
Thanks to 3006 Whisky / De Moutmolen for supplying these whiskies.
