Learn traditional archery under the guidance of experienced archers. During this free workshop, each participant will be given six arrows to practise and master the fundamentals of traditional archery. Rather than shooting at standard target faces, you'll have the unique opportunity to aim at three-dimensional targets, making the experience far more engaging and realistic.

Before you begin shooting, members of the Dutch Warbow Society will assist you in selecting the bow that best suits your abilities, ensuring it is neither too heavy nor too light. You will receive guidance on how to adopt the correct stance, hold your arms in position, and shoot using three fingers. The technique involves drawing the bowstring back to the corner of your mouth.

There is also a chance to try bows with different draw weights, allowing you to experience the distinction between lighter and heavier bows. Once you have completed your six shots, the next participant will step up and take their turn.



About the Dutch Warbow Society (DWS)

The goal of the DWS is to promote and preserve the tradition of traditional handbows. They aim to give owners of traditional bows, hunting bows, medieval English warbows, and other classic bows the opportunity to meet fellow archers and learn from one another.
Their activities include organizing shoots, clinics, and providing information. The DWS Research Team also conducts research on, among other things, archaeological findings.

Leer traditioneel boogschieten onder begeleiding van ervaren boogschutters. Tijdens deze gratis workshop krijgt elke deelnemer zes pijlen om te oefenen en de basisbeginselen van het traditioneel boogschieten onder de knie te krijgen. In plaats van op standaard blazoenen te schieten, krijg je de unieke kans om op driedimensionale doelen te richten. Dit maakt de ervaring veel leuker en realistischer.

Voordat je begint met schieten, helpen leden van de Dutch Warbow Society je met het kiezen van de boog die het beste bij jouw vaardigheden past, zodat deze niet te zwaar maar ook niet te licht is. Je krijgt uitleg over hoe je de juiste houding aanneemt, je armen in de goede positie houdt en schiet met drie vingers. De techniek houdt in dat je de pees terugtrekt tot aan de mondhoek.

Daarnaast is er de mogelijkheid om bogen met verschillende trekgewichten uit te proberen, zodat je het verschil kunt voelen tussen lichtere en zwaardere bogen. Zodra je jouw zes pijlen hebt geschoten, is het tijd voor de volgende deelnemer.

Over de Dutch Warbow Society (DWS)

Het doel van DWS is om de traditie van de traditionele handbogen te promoten en te behouden. Ze willen eigenaren van traditionele bogen, jachtbogen, middeleeuwse Engelse oorlogsbogen en andere klassieke bogen de mogelijkheid bieden om met elkaar kennis te maken en van elkaar te leren. Hun activiteiten bestaan uit het organiseren van schietwedstrijden en het verstrekken van informatie. Het DWS Onderzoeksteam doet ook onderzoek naar onder andere archeologische vondsten.
